…an old poem”
Prompt: On being a Jelly Bean
My companions are marshmallow bunnies, soft mounds of fluff dyed a fluorescent yellow.
My friends are chocolate eggs, sweet shells of decadence that make my stomach melt
and mellow and sink deep into a pool of happiness.
My hopes and dreams are curled fingers that feel the curves of my body,
A glimpse of sweet smiles, the shrill giggles of childhood giddiness, the rhythmic
Pitter patter of small feet on green grass like dew drops falling.
The Easter dream drifts with the taste of waxy gelatinous pills,
Crushed within grinning mouths to reveal blue teeth and red tongues feeding upon
The remnants of childhood clouds.
